Apprenticeship is an all-inclusive program providing quality education to individuals pursuing a career in the electrical field. This program implements both classroom instruction coupled with hands-on learning and on-the-job training.

Individuals study all related electrical theory in the classroom with subject matter experts as it correlates into real-life job experiences. Apprentices spend 80% of their apprenticeship in the field gaining skill and knowledge from skilled journeyworkers. Our goal is to provide our students with the necessary skill, knowledge and experience to be a successful craftsman in the electrical field.

Welcome to The Globe-Miami Electrical JATC Apprenticeship Program

The Globe-Miami Electrical JATC and the IBEW/NECA (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers / National Electrical Contractors Association) Local Union 518 combines a 5year program that incorporates 8,000 hours of on-the-job training in commercial and industrial electrical construction, working a full-time job, earning competitive wages and benefits, and learning the trade under the direction of a Journeyman Wireman. In the classroom the instructors are industry experts with years of experience and knowledge, they are also well trained in passing on the information in the classroom to be successful in the electrical industry.

Successful completion of the Globe-Miami Electrical JATC Apprenticeship will earn industry-recognized credentials, including an Arizona State Certificate of Apprenticeship Completion, and he Classification of Journeyman Wireman through the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. What is the Program?

Program Specifics.

Habitat for Humanity from Tucson Electrical JATC

  • Length of Program: Five years
  • Apprentices will work for electrical contractors in the field, 40 hours a week
  • Completion of apprenticeship is 8,000 On-the-Job Training hours and a total of 900 hours of related classroom instruction over the five years (When work is available & our contractors call for apprentices) Classes will be held every other Saturday for eight hours.
  • No tuition
  • Must pay for your own books: average cost $800 per year
  • Starting pay: 50% of Journeyman Wireman rate
  • Pay upgrades are granted when school hours and On-the-Job Training hours for that period are complete

NO TUITION

Apprentices receive classroom instruction from subject matter experts.

SAFE WORKING CONDITIONS

We train all apprentices in standard safety procedures to ensure safe installation and operation.

JATC provides wages on a progressive scale as outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
